m.a.d.woman wins Communicator of the Year 2009 award!
m.a.d. woman founder and CEO Melina Schamroth has been named RMIT Communicator of the Year 2009. Melina co-won the award with former High Court Judge The Hon Michael Kirby.
Melina is the first woman to receive the award. Previous winners include renowned climate change expert Professor Tim Flannery and Choir of Hard Knocks founder Jonathon Welch.
Melina was thrilled to win the award. "I am honoured to be included with such an amazing group of achievers," she said.
Other finalists this year were former Victorian Police Commissioner Christine Nixon, MP Fran Bailey and cyber-bullying campaigner Ali Halkic.
Melina said the award was totally unexpected and although she joked that "having a big mouth has finally paid off," she was very humbled to be given such an honour - and especially to share it with someone as inspirational as Michael Kirby.
The award was announced at a breakfast held at the Windsor Hotel.
Yarra Sustainability Awards 2010
m.a.d.woman was a finalist in the Sustainable Business section of the 2010 Yarra Sustainability Awards.
Premier's Community Volunteering Awards 2009
The Premier of Victoria, The Hon John Brumby, presented m.a.d.woman CEO and founder Melina Schamroth with a certificate of achievement in the inaugural Premier's Community Volunteering Awards.
Melina was named a finalist in the Community Volunteering Leadership Award for the Metropolitan area.
2009 Anthill Cool Company Awards
m.a.d.woman was Highly Commended in the Anthill 2009 Cool Companies Awards. m.a.d.woman was named in the Top 50 Cool Companies of the year in the annual awards.
2008 BrainLink Woman of Achievement finalist
Melina Schamroth was also named a finalist in the prestigious 2008 BrainLink Woman of Achievement award.
Melina was selected as one of four finalists from an amazing field of women for the award which recognises community contribution.
